Scurrilous

In November of 1910, Susan McKenna, a dishwasher, was arrested at the instance of Anthony Comstock for sending “scurrilous” postcards to President William Howard Taft. At her arraignment she identified herself as Lady Liberty and informed the judge that his father was St. Patrick. The charges were dropped, but she was committed to Bellevue Hospital.
