In March of 1913, Anthony Comstock was interviewed by Nixola Greeley-Smith for an article in the New York Evening World, and noted, “If the newspapers could only appreciate the effect of tales of bloodshed and murder, of pictures of denuded prize fighters or half clothed women, they would be more in sympathy with the purpose of this society.”
